Advocacy Day

Everything you need to know about participating in the Global Ties Network Advocacy Day.

What is Advocacy Day?

Each year, typically in February, leaders and staff from Global Ties Network member organizations across the United States come to Washington, DC to speak up for exchanges on Capitol Hill.

The last Global Ties Network Advocacy Day took place on February 17, 2026. Representatives from Community-Based Member organizations across the country engaged with almost 250 offices on Capitol Hill.

The next Global Ties Network Advocacy Day will take place in 2027

How does it work?

Leaders and staff of Global Ties Network Community-Based Member (CBM) organizations are responsible for setting up their own meetings in advance with their Members of Congress to discuss their local work and its impact in their home district/state.

Global Ties U.S. provides CBMs with outreach templates and with advocacy training ahead of time; materials for reference and “leave behinds” that showcase the excellence and impact of the Global Ties Network; and guidance and support.

To learn more about how to prepare for the day, see our Advocacy 101 section.

To find factsheets and other materials for use in your Advocacy Day meetings, see Advocacy Resources.

What’s next?

  • We encourage you to continue to engage with your congressional offices year-round.
  • You can find materials and talking points in the Advocacy Resources section.

This was my first time to participate in Advocacy Day, and now that I have, I can’t wait to do it again. It felt really good to speak up for something I so strongly believe in.”
