Global Ties U.S. seeks qualified and dedicated leaders with diverse backgrounds and experience to serve on its Board of Directors. Those chosen to serve on the board can expect a fast-paced and rewarding experience as they help to lead this dynamic and evolving organization. Board terms are three years in length and require commitment to strategic leadership, generative ideas, and financial stewardship. Members can serve up to two three-year terms.

Board terms are three years in length and require commitment to ongoing strategic leadership, generative ideas, and financial stewardship. Based on a recent needs assessment conducted by the Governance Committee of the Board, Global Ties U.S. seeks nominees from diverse backgrounds and experiences with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas, public diplomacy and foreign policy, advocacy and government relations, resource development, program development and financial management.

Candidates selected for further screening must be prepared for at least one telephone interview with a Governance Committee member.
Global Ties U.S. coordinates 120 member organizations based in 45 U.S. states and 15 countries. Each year, the organization supports foreign nationals participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program and other US Government exchange programs. These programs bring more than 5,000 foreign nationals to the United States annually, at the invitation of the U.S. Government. The members of Global Ties’ network ensure that invitees meet key leaders and institutions – as well as ordinary American citizens – during the course of a three to four-week visit. More than 200,000 emerging leaders have benefited from the Global Ties network over the past 50 years.
