Global Ties U.S. Confirms 2026 Cohort of Emerging Leaders

The Washington, DC-based nonprofit Global Ties U.S. is pleased to welcome our 2026 Emerging Leaders Program cohort this fall. These nine exceptional individuals, nominated by community-based member organizations of the nationwide Global Ties Network, were selected for their outstanding potential to lead and shape the future of public diplomacy and international exchange.

2026 marks the 15th anniversary of the Emerging Leaders Program, which has launched the careers of more than 250 bright, young professionals from across the United States. The year-long program helps participants acquire the skills and networks necessary to succeed in today’s global workforce.

Alumni have gone on to serve as executive directors and programmers with the Global Ties Network, as well as within all branches of the U.S. Government, and in other public and private sector organizations focused on strengthening and advancing U.S. public diplomacy leadership. Many alumni also serve as mentors to new cohorts.

Katherine A. Brown, Ph.D., President and CEO of Global Ties U.S., noted: “As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Emerging Leaders Program, we remain committed to our mission to grow leaders in the field of diplomacy. Year after year, this program not only identifies and supports outstanding young leaders across our nationwide Global Ties Network, but also brings diplomacy to local communities, connecting people and ideas that strengthen our global engagement. We are delighted to welcome the 2026 cohort and excited to see how they will give back and inspire others this year.”

The Emerging Leaders Program is a cornerstone of the Global Ties Network, preparing young professionals from across the United States for careers in international affairs and public diplomacy. The year-long program includes virtual training and skills development; mentorship with industry leaders; and participation at the Global Ties U.S. National Meeting, the signature annual event in international exchange and public diplomacy.

Throughout the year, participants plan and implement a service project that benefits their local community and engages more young people in international affairs. For the 2026 cohort, these projects will showcase excellence and community engagement connected to America’s 250th anniversary.

The Emerging Leaders Program is 100% donor funded. Global Ties U.S. acknowledges with appreciation the donors who make this program possible. To contribute to this important work, see HERE

The Emerging Leaders will be featured in a special plenary session at the Global Ties U.S. National Meeting in February 2026.
