Global Ties U.S. Leadership Continues to Expand

WASHINGTON, DC — The Washington, DC-based nonprofit Global Ties U.S. announces the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors. The appointments take effect March 1, 2018. Joining the Board are Anna Aleman, Martin Baier, and Patricia Harrison.

“These nonprofit and international exchange leaders bring immensely valuable experience and talent to our organizational leadership,” said Peggy Parfenoff, President of WorldChicago who serves as the Governance Chair of the Global Ties U.S. Board of Directors. “Global Ties U.S. and our Network will benefit greatly from their understanding and commitment to collaboration and capacity-building, as well as their expertise in nonprofit governance and management across the international community.”

Anna Aleman is Executive Director of Paso del Norte Charitable Foundation that serves the tri-state area of El Paso, TX, southern New Mexico, and Chihuahua, Mexico. In this capacity, she promotes philanthropic goals as a means to improve education, economic development, health, and overall quality of life for citizen in this area.

Martin Baier is President and Chief Executive Officer of The International Center of Indianapolis, a Global Ties U.S. Community-based Member that has served Indiana as a catalyst for international growth for more than four decades. A German native with a military background, Martin brings a practical and pragmatic approach to citizen diplomacy.

Patricia Harrison is Director of Professional Exchange Programs at World Learning, an IVLP National Program Agency and Global U.S. National Member dedicated to empowering people and strengthening institutions through education, sustainable development, and exchange. She brings over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and cross-cultural programming to the Global Ties U.S. Board of Directors.

“We are fortunate to have such talented individuals who are passionate about citizen diplomacy, joining our Board,” said Daniel Valle, Chief Operating Officer and current head of Global Ties U.S. “As we continue to expand the impact of our collective work, I am confident and grateful that these new members will add value to Global Ties U.S.”

James Wolf, former Chair of the Board of Directors, and Thea Richards conclude their terms at the end of February. They played a critical role in the development and success of Global Ties U.S. The Board of Directors thanks them profoundly for their passion and dedication to Global Ties U.S., international exchange, and citizen diplomacy.
