“We’re thrilled to work with our members in Salt Lake City, San Diego, and Louisville and celebrate the extraordinary impact of exchange programs in American communities,” said Katherine Brown, President and CEO of Global Ties U.S. “We’re confident that each city and host organization will deliver an amazing program that brings local and international communities together, all while exemplifying the best of America’s diversity.”

The Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summits are funded by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by Global Ties U.S. in partnership with local Community-Based Members. The Summits are an opportunity to forge new connections, build professional networks, and deepen understanding of U.S. foreign policy, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), and the benefits of exchange programs to American citizens and the communities that host them.

Since 2014, the Summits have convened hundreds of exchange professionals and community members in nearly 20 U.S. cities including Albuquerque, NM, Huntsville, AL, Manchester, NH, and Portland, OR. This year will be the second time the Summit is hosted in Louisville; San Diego and Salt Lake City will be first-time hosts of this signature event.

Each of the Summits include a Learning Lab, a full-day workshop for IVLP implementing partners, including the U.S. Department of State’s Office of International Visitors. Learning Labs are designed to help our members strengthen their programming capabilities, advance professional skills, and foster peer-to-peer learning and knowledge exchange.

Registration and more information about the sessions and speakers at each Diplomacy Begins Begins Here Summit and Learning Lab are forthcoming. Updates will be available on our website, as well as information on past Summit programs and hosts.
