U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Speak at 2021 National Meeting

We are honored to announce that Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State, is a keynote speaker at the online Global Ties U.S. 2021 National Meeting. He will deliver closing remarks on Friday, March 26.

Secretary Blinken carries out the President’s foreign policy priorities through the U.S. Department of State, which includes the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

A career diplomat, Secretary Blinken has served under Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden in numerous foreign policy positions on the National Security Council and within the U.S. Department of State.

As Secretary Blinken said in his welcome remarks to U.S. Department of State employees on January 27, “We have to invest significantly in building a diverse and inclusive State Department. We need the most talented people. We need the most creative workforce. We cannot do our job of advancing America’s interests, values, and commitment to democracy without a State Department that is truly representative of the American people.”

Secretary Blinken is married to Evan Ryan, former Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs (2013 – 2017).

Note: all National Meeting attendees will have access to Secretary Blinken’s Plenary Session – no action is needed by 2021 National Meeting attendees.
